Summary

 

Paola is originally from Padua, Italy.


As a graduate of the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, she studied a physical approach to theatre creation and is one of 40 students in the school’s 50-year history to have been certified as a pedagogical specialist under Lecoq’s direction.


In her theatre career she has worked as an Artistic Director, Producer, Actress, and Teacher having worked in England, Scotland, Spain, France, the United States, and Italy.


She began her artistic journey in Padua as an actress and studying theatre performance with Dr. G. Gennaro, a colleague of Gianfranco DeBosio and Jacques Lecoq at the University of Padua. She went on to study theatre in Paris and afterward, co-founded a London-based theatre company with Malachi Bogdanov where she worked as a director, actress and teacher in England, Spain, France and Italy.

She later moved to Scotland where she lived and worked as a director with the Findhorn Foundation.


Upon her return to Padua, Paola founded the Cultural Arts Organization Fantàsia, an organization dedicated to the research of art, theater and self-development where she was host to workshops & seminars on a national & international level. Fantàsia later evolved into Kìklos Teatro, an international theatre organization of which Paola was President and co-founder with Giovanni Fusetti and Sean Kaplan, where she served as co-artistic director of the company and co-director of the international theatre school. The company toured productions in Italy, Switzerland and England and in 2003, the school was awarded ‘Best Show’ at the National ROMA TEATRO Festival for Italian Theatre Schools.

As an artist, she directed and performed for the company, in addition to acting in the Italian short film, 8 Febbraio (Awarded “2005 Audience Choice” at Festival di Cortometraggi, Mestre, Italy).


She received a diploma in Classical Studies from Liceo Tito Livio, a master's diploma in architecture, design & textile work from Istituto Statale d’Arte Pietro Selvatico, she's a certified personal trainer from A.C.L.I. Unione Sportiva in Venice, and the co-founder of the gym Linea e Sport. She studied the holistic practice of art therapy in theater, painting, and sculpture at the Centro Studi di Filosofia Acquariana in Milan and was certified as a bodywork professional in massage and nutrition balance under he direction of Baba Bede. Paola is also a former business coach to Italian executives with Studio Centro Consulting.


In the US, she was the Artistic Director of Holon Productions, LLC and the not-for-profit organization Holon Dell’Arte of Chicago where she explored European tradition and culture within the framework of fusing art, education and spectacle; inventing interactive experiences that integrated and engaged broad cross-sections of people from diverse communities.


Working with theatre companies in the US, Paola has directed one woman shows with the likes of Chicago's Local Infinities and the Brazilian company Canoa Grande, mask and movement direction for the Adventure Stage, 'Carnival' at Collaboraction to acting as director of production on large scale spectacle events with Redmoon Theatre Company, the Spectacle Lunatique, Chicago's white night festival Looptopia, the week-long Columbus park performances of Twilight Orchard to the spectacle party for Sam Zell's ESAM.


As a teacher, she's recently taught master mask performance classes and gave presentations with Donato Sartori on the Commedia dell'Arte to audiences at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and DePaul's Theatre Conservatory, sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago.
